What Is Cystic Fibrosis?
Cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease
that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and
adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide). A defective gene and
its protein product cause the body to produce unusually thick, sticky
mucus that:
- clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections; and
- obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food.
We walked/ran in support of a friend from church named Emily. She is 3 years old and is one amazing girl. We were very excited to take the family out to support this cause. It was a gorgeous morning and such a beautiful view of Six Flags Over Texas, Cowboys Stadium, Ranger Ballpark Stadium and University Of Texas at Arlington.

After the walk/run Cooks Children's Hospital had a kids corner for games and goodies. We also stayed for a BBQ and picked up other fun items. We are thankful every day to have such happy healthy children.
