72-22=50 Hours of fun in Tennessee

The fun began at 3am, we started our ten hour drive to Nashville. Leo's collage roommate and friend was getting married on Friday night. While Leo drove I used the time to catch up on some much need rest. We were going to make the most out of this get away. We did not skip a beat. I think we have more energy now than in college ( is that possible?) Here is the list of everything we did.

Leo already finding a new date!

After arriving late afternoon. We checked in to this amazing hotel and headed for dinner and drinks. After that we took a flatboat ride through the hotel. It was very beautiful.

We got changed and off to the pool ans sauna to take a dip and set up a game plan. Although that warm bed and quiet room was calling our name....we got change and headed out.

Elvis and I go way back.

Had to go to Coyote Ugly, but I was honestly a little disappointed it was so not like the movie. I was expecting Violet, Lil and LeAnn. I was secretly waiting for Leo to order water, but that did not happen.

 

 

We found ourselves at  The Wildhorse Saloon We enjoyed a few more drinks and played a game of pool I thought I was going to win, but who was I fooling?

 After a great first night. We were going to go zip lining but with the rain we had to change our plans. We went to the Famous Pancake Pantry then a few shops and museums. Then we went back to the hotel to take a nap and get ready for the wedding.

The wedding was taking place at Belle Meade Plantation.

In 1853, the house on Belle Meade was altered and enlarged into a double-pile, five bay Greek-Revival style mansion by General William Giles Harding to reflect the success of the plantation. During this time, the Harding family prospered, building their domain into a 5,400-acre (22 km²) plantation that was renowned throughout the world for breeding champion Thoroughbred horses.
The American Civil War brought deprivation and danger to Belle Meade Plantation. During the Battle of Nashville, Union and Confederate forces skirmished in the front yard, and the mansion's massive stone columns were riddled with bullets. Evidence of the violence is still visible today.


This is a must on you list if you visit take the tour and also the wine tour.

They are a beautiful couple and we are so happy for them. Mitch was in our wedding 11 years ago and we were so happy to share in his special day.

 Saturday morning after an extra large coffee we meet up with some very great friends Jamie and Amanda. They drove up from Alabama to spend the afternoon with us.We were stationed in El Paso together and had our first babies together 10 years ago. We have not lived in the same state since the girls were 3 years old, but we fly the distance to keep in touch.

The Opry is "the show that made country music famous"

 

 

 

Being made a member of the Grand Ole Opry, country music's big house, the oldest, most enduring "hall of fame," is to be identified as a member of the elite of country music. In many ways, the artists and repertoire of the Opry defined American country music. Carrie Underwood is the youngest ever at 25 she became a member.

In May 2010, the Opry House was flooded, along with much of Nashville, you can see the flood line is above my head. For most places this would be called the green room, but country style it is the family room.

After another amazing day together we hit the road.....back to rescue Mimi just in time for Mother's Day.
